Will Documents Ever Go Away?

Second day at AU in Las Vegas, listening to Autodesk talking about collaboration.

I think they are missing the point. We don’t need another document centric system. We need information centric systems. Deal with information. Make it context sensitive.

Guess the world is not there yet, though. Documents are still the core of any public-private communication, it seems. Too bad.

Autodesk Constructware is probably well intended, but too document/folder/permission centric, not enough context aware.
