MVD vs IDM
A really important discussion is going on at the TIM meeting right now, trying to define the difference between MVD and IDM. It seems the academic definition is clear. But lots of different opinions on what we need and what we do not need.
One thing everybody agrees on: We need a way for end users to describe exactly what information they need, and we need a way for implementers to understand this need in a way that enables them to implement the solution for the end users.
The rest is probably just noise, or more correctly: A necessary discussion to clarify an important, but also difficult, area of buildingSMART standards development.
