A BIM Storm, now in Los Angeles

A BIM Storm, now in Los Angeles

Onuma Inc, is an architecture/services company, staffed with architects and computer engineers. Their mission is to revolutionize architecture. And they seem to be doing a good job, so far. A BIM Storm is a great idea, where some of the real potential of BIM and buildingSMART technology becomes obvious to many interested parties at the same time. Over a 24 hour period, they will on January 31st, design 30 city blocks of Los Angeles, totaling 30 million square feet.

LA BIM Storm

This will all be done in real time!

What I would like to see a stronger focus on in future BIM Storms is IFD Library. Without IFD, only a little bit of the greater potential buildingSMART technology allows will be utilized. Furthermore, a BIM Storm seems to be an ideal place where you can set up a dedicated IDM/MVD team (or several), to try and capture as many IDM/MVDs as possible as basis for future standard IDM/MVDs.

So, BIM Stormers, if you are listening: Make the next BIM Storm into a stepping stone for IFD and IDM/MVD technology. Its all part of the buildingSMART vision!

  1. Exactly! I agree.

This was step one to get the players comfortable with the process change. IFC, IDM, MVD are all part of this. I invite others to join in this effort.

We went over on our estimate and hit 50 city blocks and 55 million square feet.

    Thanks
